Cambodia Gambling Halls

[ English ]

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which casino gaming is banned. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a prime location, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 17:00, and although visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, highlights 150 slots and sixty tables. The Naga river boat is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel compound that contains many amenities aside from the gambling hall, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
